Biscuit, the Quiet Shelter Dog Who Stole Bread and Hearts
Biscuit, the Quiet Shelter Dog Who Stole Bread and Hearts
Biscuit came into his people's lives after a four-hour drive to a shelter outside Worcester in the rain. He was the only dog not barking. He fell asleep in the lap before the highway even appeared.
Known also as Biscuit-Bear and Mr B, he was gentle with every child he ever met and deeply suspicious of the vacuum cleaner. What he loved most were the green tennis ball, the sunny corner of the porch, and cheese of any kind.
He once carried an entire loaf of bread out of the kitchen without tearing the bag and hid it under the bed for two days. The quiet triumph of that caper suited him perfectly; he would have hated anything solemn.
Biscuit is missed by his people and by his sister Willow, who still waits by the door at four in the afternoon.
